In this Travel Kinship spotlight, we’re exploring how Adventure International bring their “awakening meets adrenaline” philosophy to 3 of their most exceptional journeys. From a flagship ascent to the Roof of Africa combined with an OTBT bike safari across Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich ecosystems; high-altitude climbs in Ecuador’s Avenue of the Volcanoes followed by deeply immersive island-hopping in the Galapagos and a reimagined Everest Base Camp experience that ventures past the classic route into the hidden valleys of the Khumbu, this is one for those with adventure in their soul…

Kilimanjaro & Northern Tanzania: The Icon, Elevated

For many, standing on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is the ultimate goal, but what Adventure International offer isn’t just a way to get there - it’s a way to do it in real comfort and style, with deep thought and expert judgement shaping every step.

Their signature Kilimanjaro experience is quite simply the most complete and considered way to take on Africa’s highest peak, built around extended routes and generous acclimatisation to allow your clients to adapt naturally and move through Kili’s changing landscapes at the right pace.

And, supported throughout by highly trained guides and one of the best-equipped teams on the mountain (think spacious guest tents with proper bed cots and pillows, private showers and toilets and a mess tent with tables and full cutlery), the emphasis is on wellbeing, preparation and enjoyment throughout, from the rainforest and alpine desert right to the stark beauty of the peak itself.

The result is an ascent that feels both achievable and deeply rewarding, even for those tackling Kilimanjaro for the first time.

And after the exhilaration of Kilimanjaro?

Adventure International shift the focus seamlessly from peaks to plains, introducing one of their most distinctive experiences: the biking safari.

Pioneers of this style of exploration with more than a decade of experience (and still the only operators offering e-bikes), they take guests deep into northern Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich regions, going off the standard route and format of drive-only safaris to combine mountain biking with traditional game drives for a far more intimate way of exploring these breathtaking landscapes.

Riding through the greater Tarangire National Park ecosystem, along the edges of the Great Rift Valley and towards Lake Manyara, guests are able to experience the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater as active, engaged participants - noticing more and connecting more deeply with the natural beauty around them.

For clients with an adventurous spirit and a desire to experience Tanzania beyond the expected, this is a pairing that feels both bold and beautifully logical, blending personal triumph and shared wonder for a trip whose memory will stay strong for a lifetime.

Cotopaxi & The Galapagos: From Ice to Equator

Peak-bagging clients seeking the natural next step after Kilimanjaro? Cotopaxi fits the brief perfectly.

Rising dramatically along Ecuador’s Avenue of the Volcanoes, Cotopaxi demands more technical skill than Kili, introducing clients to the world of true alpine mountaineering, where crampons, ice axes and ropework come into play.

Climbing with Adventure International, an ascent of this, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, is another carefully placed progression, this time beneath the wide expanses of the Andean skies.

And for those not looking for time on the mountain, there are lots of engaging trekking and multi-sport activities available back down on the mainland too, where all adventurers will find thoughtfully chosen stays in comfortable, characterful lodges that allow guests to rest and recover between their exertions, indulging in the simple pleasure of easing tired muscles in nearby hot springs.

From a base in beautiful colonial Quito, considered the cultural capital of South America, it’s all-too easy to fly over to the Galapagos to spend time in one of the most extraordinary wildlife destinations on the planet.

Here, Adventure International’s approach is hugely different from standard cruise-led itineraries - in all the best possible ways.

Rather than skimming the surface, your guests will experience this incredible archipelago through a privately guided and consciously curated programme of island-hopping by land and sea, staying in luxury hotels on the islands themselves, building a deeper, more grounded connection with local life and spending far more time immersed in some of the world’s most remarkable ecosystems.

Days here play out to a rhythm of activity and exploration; think wildlife encounters with the region’s famous sea lions, penguins and turtles, snorkelling iconic spots like La Loberia, Kicker Rock and the Lava Tunnels of Isabela and hiking and biking volcanic landscapes from Sierra Negra to Santa Cruz (home to Darwin’s giant tortoises).

And for those with energy to spare, how about a surfing lesson in Tortuga Bay, or kayaking the waters around Tintoreras Island?

Whatever your clients’ preferences, together these destinations offer the most beautifully balanced journey; one that’s ideal for those who want to progress their adventure skillset while taking in one of the world’s most stunning, biodiverse environments.

Everest Base Camp & Babai River: A contrast of High Himalayas and Deep Jungle

The legendary pilgrimage to Everest Base Camp is a route followed by thousands of adventurers every year but - as you’d expect - Adventure International’s version rises well beyond the well-worn paths, perfectly juxtaposing the quieter, more elemental side of the Khumbu with the subtropical beauty of the western lowlands.

Flying first into Lukla to acclimatise through Namche Bazaar, where yaks roam freely and off-trail luxury lodges provide an indulgent pause away from the trek crowds, guests then venture deeper into the hidden valleys of the Khumbu to explore the rarely visited Khangtaiga, Mingbo La, Imja and Ama Dablam valleys; all of which offer a whole new perspective.

Here, Adventure International establish their VIP Yarin Camp. This fully equipped base offers wonderful comfort and solitude, and sees your adventurers supported all the way by professional guides, porters and an expert camp team - not to mention their truly excellent cooks, serving up elevated dining and the best in-camp desserts around.

And of course that trip to Everest Base Camp!

This your adventurers will do in iconic style, helicoptering in to explore the camp itself with the option to visit some of the high-altitude lakes that surround it - from Imja to Scoundrel’s viewpoint and Gokyo - taking in the region’s scale and power without the physical strain of more days on the trail.

After, it’s time for a complete change of pace and setting.

From the high Himalayas, Adventure International guide travellers into the subtropical lowlands of western Nepal and their own Babai River Camp; a proprietary luxury camp set deep within a remote river valley that has become one of the last true refuges for big game on the Indian subcontinent.

Here, herds of Asiatic elephants graze undisturbed, one-horned Indian rhinoceros wallow in lazy pools, gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles patrol the waterways and the elusive Royal Bengal tiger still prowls through abundant deer country.

This is a place where magical wildlife encounters are the order of the day, with your clients’ time and experience guided by expert naturalists who understand the delicate balance of this extraordinary ecosystem like no other - a perfectly profound way to cap a journey that moves seamlessly between two completely contrasting worlds.

Some explorations just test the body - but the best awaken the senses, reward the effort and leave travellers transformed… and it’s these that Adventure International deliver like no other DMC.

So if your clients are ready for a journey that pairs celebrated summits with exceptional wildlife encounters - and does it all flawlessly, thoughtfully and at the highest specification around - it’s time for an introduction to founder Frank Castro and his team. Get connected today!
